What is Reiki?
In practice, Reiki is defined as a holistic healing system developed in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui. It is a form of energy therapy used as a complementary therapy.
Here are the key aspects that define what Reiki is in practice:

Reiki's holistic approach treats the whole being, addressing issues and promoting healing on all levels simultaneously: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The goal is not to treat a specific symptom, but to restore balance to the entire system.

How It Works: A practitioner who has been properly trained and "attuned" (through a process of "initiation") acts as a conduit for this universal energy. This energy is transmitted through the hands—either through gentle, non-invasive touch or at a distance. Reiki energy is described as having its own intelligence—flowing to where it's most needed to support the body's natural healing abilities. Scientific research suggests that Reiki activates the parasympathetic nervous system (responsible for rest and recovery) to help heal the body and mind.

The Role of Complementary Therapy : This is a key principle: Reiki is a complementary therapy, not an alternative. This means it never replaces professional medical or veterinary care. Instead, it is used alongside conventional medicine to promote deep relaxation, reduce stress, relieve pain, support healing, and offer comfort in palliative care. Due to its gentle yet effective nature, it is used in over 800 hospitals in the United States alone.

Spiritual Aspects (Not Religious) Reiki is a spiritual practice, but not a religion. It does not require any specific belief system or affiliation with any organization. It is available to everyone, regardless of religion or lack thereof.

Learning Reiki practice is a skill that anyone can learn. It is divided into three levels:

Level 1: Focuses on self-healing and hands-on work with others.

How Does Animal Reiki Help in Practice?
The results can be astonishing. Reiki reaches the root of the problem—whether physical or emotional—and provides powerful support for our pet.

REDUCE ANXIETY AND TRAUMA. Reiki is invaluable when working with animals (especially those in shelters) who have lost trust in humans. It helps them release old emotions and open up to new relationships.

Example: Karol the cat, a cat with a history of trauma, was terrified and avoidant. After six ethical Reiki sessions (based on distance and trust), he began to show dramatic "emotional and behavioral improvement," building a deep bond with his new owner.

SUPPORT DURING ILLNESS AND PALLIATIVE CARE. For suffering, elderly, or chronically ill animals, Reiki offers profound comfort, pain relief, and peace. It supports them in their healing process or helps them navigate their final moments with dignity, surrounded by peace, not stress.

Example: Francis the cat, an elderly cat battling cancer, actively requested a Reiki session to alleviate his discomfort. This demonstrates how instinctively animals know what they need when given the opportunity.

BALANCING BEHAVIORAL ISSUES Instead of "fixing" a symptom (e.g., hyperactivity), Reiki reaches the emotional source of the problem, allowing the animal to regain balance naturally.

Example: Szymon, a deaf Dalmatian described as "hyperactive," underwent a "visible transformation" during an Animal Reiki session and relaxed deeply for the first time in a long time.

About me
Hi. My name is Marcin Kalinowski.
I specialize in personal growth and change, utilizing techniques from Asian shamanism and Reiki. I have been practicing these techniques for over 20 years.
My practice combines contemporary and traditional knowledge, which allows me to flexibly choose my work techniques to achieve the best results.
My teachers are Arvick Baghramian, a psychotherapist with 40 years of experience working with ancestral techniques, and Bhola Nath Banstola, a practitioner of the Nepalese Jhankri tradition. Working with them and studying under their guidance has significantly influenced my practice, enabling me to offer profound and transformative experiences.
I run my own business on a daily basis. Although shamanism and Reiki are central to my life, I don't want to dedicate myself entirely to them, as that would make my work commercial, and I don't want that. Performing shamanic and Reiki work alongside running my business allows me to practice in accordance with my conscience. I invest the funds I earn from my practice in my education and the instruments and tools necessary for shamanic work.
